Michaele is Equilibrium’s Controller and the Fund Controller for the Wastewater Opportunity Fund, with responsibility for Finance and Compliance. She brings to the team her skills and expertise in financial and management reporting, technical accounting, business systems, data analysis, project costing/reporting, and auditing (financial and governmental compliance with use of federal funds). And her diverse industry background of banking and credit unions, film production and public accounting – which includes financial and compliance audits for clients of various industries.
As an accountant for a film company, based in Oregon, she served as the point person for the finance team for their accounting systems conversion – working closely with the accounting team to design accounting procedures and systems controls. She also worked directly with software developers to design custom accounting software features to meet the needs of the organization. Including but not limited to: tax depreciation calculations, project cost accounting, management reporting (for projects and overhead), payroll processing (time cards, project time cards, general ledger posting, and reporting), and expense management (employee reimbursements and purchase cards).
As a Senior Assurance Associate for a regional mid-sized public accounting firm, she provided assurance services (financial, compliance, and attestation) to clients in various industries including: government, construction, service organizations, and distribution. For her construction clients, she reviewed the job and project cost schedules to ensure accurate and complete preparation. For her governmental clients, she performed compliance audits for federal funds. Many of the federal funds projects were construction oriented, which required Michaele to be intimately familiar with compliance requirements and appropriate supporting documentation for construction costs – including project cost schedules and labor documentation.
Michaele earned a bachelor of science double major in Accounting and Information Systems from Portland State University and holds an active Certified Public Accountant license in the state of Oregon.
In her free time, she takes refuge during the winter in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon, shredding down the mountain on her snowboard. She also enjoys camping, crabbing and spending time with family.
